London Calling!

London Calling!

Yesterday the school council visited the Houses of Parliament! The trip was funded by the Mayor of Kirklees after Crossley Fields raised the most money in the bake sale. It was a great experience for the school council. Not only did they visit Westminster Hall they also watched a live debate in the House of Commons, met the local MP for Mirfield Paula Sherriff, met Lord Dubs, went on the London Eye and posed for a photo on platform 9 3/4! We really appreciate the efforts made by you all for the bake sale and for helping to raise so much...

Red Nose Day!

Red Nose Day!

Red Nose Day is Friday 24th March. We think it would be great fun if all children were to wear a Red Hat or Hair and red accessories – Including shoes! All appropriate RED accessories are to be worn alongside their school uniform. The link below downloads snuffles money box that children can colour in and make. This money box is to encourage children to raise their own money to donate to Comic Relief rather than bringing in the usual £1 from parents. The box is to be made at home and brought in on Friday 24th March with their donation inside. This is something we have not done before but hope it will give feeling of being more involved with raising money to give to charity. A youtube link to the Comic Relief song that we are learning is also provided below! Thank you for your support. Snuffles Money...

Road Safety Message

Dear parent/carer I appeal to you for the safety of all the children at Crossley Fields to drive and park safely and carefully outside our school. On Monday there was a serious incident where 2 parents had an altercation in the road after both parking on the yellow zig zags and then proceeded to mount the curb where children were walking. Thank you to the parent who captured this on dash cam for me to pass to the police to action this. This has enabled cars and number plates to be handed to the police from the drop and go area and the zig zags. I would urge you to continue to pass these on to the school. We all want to keep our children safe but this means you all need to drive and set a good example to our children. I do not ever want to be reporting a child injury due to dangerous driving. Thank you Tracy Dell...

World Book Day – 2nd March

World Book Day – 2nd March

Thursday 2nd March is World Book Day!  We will be celebrating World Book Day across school and children are invited to dress up as their favourite book character. Staff will also be dressing up so look out for your favourite characters around school. Following on from the success of last year, we will be holding our annual Crossley Fields’ ‘Poetry Slam’. This is an event in which we are inviting all children to learn any poem by heart and perform it to the rest of the class, possibly the school! The emphasis is on the performance and delivery of the poem so children can either choose any poem they enjoy or if they prefer they can compose their own poem to read aloud. Last year’s winners and a range of recommended poems can be found below. As in previous years, school children in the UK are receiving a free £1 equivalent Book Token, which can be exchanged in all participating bookshops. There are six new £1 books, these have...
